Driving home for endless hours, the most exciting thing we saw was this quilt-themed rest stop in Iowa (this photo is for you, Mom!)

David and Ken carry the Olympic torches for L.A. and Salt Lake City, at the USC Trojan Band tailgate party

Hiking in the ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest with friends Julie, Bill, and of course Violet mugging for the camera

At Disneyland, we caught an exhibit of materials from “Frankenweenie,” including this armature. Saw the movie a couple days later, and while the plot is just ok, the stop-motion animation is beautiful.

We spotted “Free Demo Day” at the Harley dealership in Rock Island, Illinois, so Ken took a spin on a Sportster
Check out the Photos of the Day from previous months:
LOVE the addition of Photo of the Day! Thank you. Particularly liked the colorful tour group and lunch (dinner?) looked fabulous. Oh, and the little iPhone girl is adorable, too. Continue to look forward to your posts, and enjoy following your travels on facebook. Take care.
Wonderful Terri! We like it too. Have a great day!
Hi, You two sweeties!
I’m watching and reading. Thanks for sharing!
Big hug,
Asia
Hiya! Thanks and hugs to you!
Karen
How do you not get tired of all the newness? Do you ever forget where you are and what you are doing? These photos are amazing and a great reminder for you when the trip is in the past. I am continued to be grateful that you are sharing this will us all. Thanks so much!!!
Great questions Dee! We do get tired of the newness. Some days to the point where I just don’t care about what I am looking at. With all the hard beds and bad pillows we sleep on, I definitely know we are not at home anymore. (Missing my Temperpedic pillow.)
Still enjoying plenty of good times and currently good eats in Penang. We are looking forward to hearing into Cambodia, where we hear that the locals are very friendly.
Karen
Super! These are fantastic photos! Stanley Morgan cracks me up, and that owl is amazing!!! I’ve just been going through Peru photos from 2009 – trying to get my digital pix in order – reliving memories of great travels – can’t wait to make some new ones!
Thanks Angie! We are going to make beautiful pictures together!
Noted Dee’s comment about forgetting where you are…we’ve been on multiple-stop trips where I HAVE gotten turned around when getting up at night to use the bathroom!!! “Whoa, which way is it??”
Love the pics!!!!
Thanks Margaret!
The Eagle Owl is my favorite! Did you photoshop those eyes on? Also, the “iPhone Generation” is a great one. Hope all is well guys!
Wop
Only nature could create eyes that creepy!
Hey! My little girl made it here! Thank you and will be following you guys on your world tour virtually. Love it 🙂
She clearly has star power!
Stanley Morgan?!? Someone in the far east is a Patriots’ fan.

Thanks for setting us straight on that, Chris. Just so it’s not Morgan Stanley liquor (although that would help explain the worldwide financial crisis).
Love the map idea. We all need a geography lesson in this changing world. Karen, You and Angie make picture taking look so easy and awesome. Fantastic record of your adventure
Thanks Betty! Ken gets all the credit as he is our photographer.
Love the arrow! Helpful!
At the risk of repeating myself (what’s new) I am really enjoying photo of the day. The photo of Sunlight (the hotel windows) is just amazing. I would like to save it and use it as wallpaper if that’s ok. Take care and fun travels to you both.
Please do! Glad you like the photos Terri. The windows are a Chinese design that we see at many renovated guesthouses in Penang.
The pic from January 9 caught my eye. Does that stuff come directly from the Kickapoo Valley back here in WI? Just kidding, obviously. Great pics! My favorite is “Sunlight.” And Vinnie is right, that owl is creepy.
