Balloon Fiesta, Brazilian Style

What happens when you take a bunch of colorful balloons and add a bunch of colorful characters? We found out, when we volunteered to work for a Brazilian team at the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta.

On the first day, we had our ups and downs (so to speak).

The Albuquerque Journal captured the spectacle of all those balloons taking off in a cool time lapse video– look closely for our friend Tic Toc.

And a big olá to our Brazilian friends, who will hopefully enjoy these videos while wearing snazzy new clothes purchased in the USA. Obrigado, amigos!

Speaking of balloons. Were you guys anywhere near the mother of all balloon flights– Felix Baumgarten’s Red Bull Stratos balloon/skydive adventure?

    • Ken says:

As Fearless Felix was landing east of Roswell, we were driving between rims of the Grand Canyon. We didn’t see a streak in the sky or anything. Karen happened to call her dad as Felix was falling, and Pop gave us play-by-play from the live coverage. Amazing stuff!

OMG, I would have been in heaven! That Ice Cream Cone and Darth Vader, Oh My I would have been squealing all day.

    • Karen says:

It really was a squealing kind of event.

    • Ken says:

Darth Vader was indeed awesome. I couldn’t find him at first, but hey, how can you miss that face? The ice cream cone, Smokey Bear, the sunglasses guy, Elvis, the bumblebees, and of course Tic Toc… amazing designs to behold!
